We have built a reputation on our ability to support children in Maple House through a holistic approach that addresses the key factors influencing the child’s wellbeing. Maple House works with the child to set goals, identify what needs to change for them to achieve positive outcomes, and prepare for the next stage in their lives.

Rachel Jones

Registered Manager

Rachel has worked across children’s services, care and support roles for over 8 years, building extensive experience supporting children and young people with additional needs, complex health requirements, and behavioural and emotional needs. Throughout her career, Rachel has worked in a variety of settings including early years provision, complex care services, and children’s residential care, developing a strong child-centred approach to support.

 

Since joining Sure Steps Support Services, Rachel has played a key role within Barrow’s Green as Deputy Manager, working alongside Kevin Orme and the wider team to help the home achieve a ‘Good’ Ofsted rating. Rachel has now progressed into the Registered Manager role at Maple House, where she continues to focus on creating nurturing, stable, and positive outcomes for children and young people.

 

Rachel currently holds a Level 3 qualification in Children and Young People’s Care and has completed extensive specialist training. She is currently working towards her Children, Young People and Families Manager Level 5 qualification. In recognition of her commitment to childcare, Rachel was also named a finalist in the 2025 National Children’s Homes Awards 2025 for the category Practitioner of the Year

Layout

The home is situated in a relaxed, friendly community, with 2 bedrooms for children, a bathroom with a toilet, shower and a sink, another bathroom with a washbasin, and large communal rooms such as a dining room and a living room which leads into a fully-fitted kitchen. This leads into the back garden which has lots of space for barbeques, games, lunch outside or simply to relax. The office is next to two staff sleep-in rooms.

Local transport links are close by, with bus routes into neighbouring towns such as Runcorn and Liverpool. There are transport links for easy access to local cinemas, youth clubs, sports centres, parks, and leisure facilities, with nearby access to shopping amenities, cafés, and community activities for children.

Make a referral

The home can accommodate up to two children between the ages of 8-17 years on admission, with mental health, emotional and behaviour difficulties, who require relevant support from a trained and experienced staff team. Palm Grove offers short, medium and long-term placements for children who need support currently in their lives, through services delivered based on nurturing informed practice. The home also offers placements on an emergency basis, with 72-hour review and 6-week overview.
